JIAWEN Wraps Up a Successful 140th Canton Fair in Guangzhou
Stainless steel is not automatically corrosion-proof. Grade, surface finish and passivation all affect how a hinge or spider fitting performs in a humid bathroom or on a coastal facade. That is why every production batch at JIAWEN goes through salt spray testing before it is packed.
Samples are placed in a neutral salt spray chamber at 35 °C with a 5% sodium chloride solution, following the ASTM B117 method. Parts are inspected at 24, 96, 240 and 480 hours for white rust, red rust, blistering and colour change.
A rough or contaminated surface traps chloride and starts pitting long before the base metal fails. Parts are therefore passivated after polishing, rinsed in deionised water and handled with gloves before assembly. This step costs time, but it is the difference between a fitting that still looks new after three years and one that shows rust streaks after a single summer.
Test reports are retained by batch number and can be issued with the shipping documents on request, together with material certificates for the stainless steel coil used.
For projects in coastal or high-humidity regions, specify SUS316 and ask our sales team for the salt spray report of the relevant batch.
